What to do with the Zephyrometer?

A few days ago one of the wind sculptures on Cobham Drive was struck by lightning. It now looks like this.

Today we did a PMI on the idea of leaving it where it is, as it now is. We had some great thoughts.

Positive things about leaving it as it is:

# it is a reminder to be careful and safe
# it reminds us of the power of nature
# it looks awesome!
# it's still a piece of art
# it would save the cost of fixing it

Negative things about leaving it as it is:

# it will take a long time to rebuild it
# it might get struck by lightning again
# it looks ugly!

Interesting things about leaving it as it is:

# if it's removed - use the space for a fish shop
# to see people's reaction to it
# need to put up an explanation as to why it looks the way it does
# might be a tourist attraction
# move it somewhere else and turn it into an exhibition
# will it still work as it is?
# is it safe as it is?

Thanks to the Room 5 children for sharing their ideas!

Skip Off Time

After 3 weeks of perfecting our skipping skills the time had arrived.
In Year groups we started skipping - and kept going until the second-to-last person tripped up. There are some pretty amazing skippers at MCS. We had FUN!

Crossing the Toxic Swamp

Today we did an activity with our buddy class. We worked in mixed class teams and had to get from one side of the court to the other and back.
Each team had two hoops and a small mat. At all times team members had to be either in a hoop or on a mat - and not 'in the toxic swamp'.
We had lots of fun and got to practise our group work skills.
