Cultural Dress Day

Today was Cultural Dress Day - look at these Room 7 children!

I'm Sharanya and I'm wearing a lunga from India, it's what young girls wear. I love them and it's a part of my childhood.

On Thursday I was wearing a blue and white lavalava which had flowers on it. I was also wearing a purple and black lei. (Samoa)

I am a Frenchman with a garlic necklace and a French stick. Hamish.

I'm a German/Dortmund Football supporter. Mahera

I'm dressed as an English school girl. Emma.

I'm wearing an All Blacks flag because I was born in NZ. I have NZ on my cheeks - Go The All Blacks! Neve.

I'm wearing a dress, I'm dressed as an Indian girl. Madhu.

I'm dressed up as a Spanish dancer. My favourite bit about the dress is the pattern. Charlotte.

I'm wearing a Scottish tie with the Macgregor tartan on it. Sean.

I am wearing a Moroccan Caftan. A caftan has a belt on it and an open end. I love my caftan. Nohaila.

The greenstone on my necklace was given to my mother when my Grandfather had passed away. In Maori we call it pounamu. The carving is from my sister and if you look at it closely it has a pattern down the side. Sapphire.

Cultural Week Activities - by Emma and Addis

A visit from Scots College

Today we had a visit from three Scots College boys. This was part of our Cultural Focus – celebrating European Cultures.
Two of them were playing the bagpipes and one of them was playing the drums. Even though it was loud it was spectacular.
They played 4 songs and the boy on the drums played a solo. They all were wearing kilts, jackets, tie and long socks.
At the end they answered some questions. One of them said they had been playing the bagpipes for 3 or 4 years.

The Cat In The Hat - By Tom and Addis

On the 3rd of September, Room 7 met The Cat in the Hat! He read us a story called Walter The Farting Dog.
He came because this week is Book Week at school. He came saying rhymes as he walked in. One of the rhymes was: these glasses are good for walking but no good for talking and the next thing he said was: This story is very well, there's a dog named Walter in here and he quite smells. He made us all laugh, well mainly Ms D! We all laughed at the end of the book. Ms D took pictures, take a look!
