TODAY WE MADE
IRISH SODA BREAD!!!
We have been learning about where our families came from. We read about a girl and her family and how they kept in contact with family in Ireland. In the story the girl takes Soda Bread to school - we decided to make some.
This is what we did.
Preheat the oven to 200C.
First the measurers put 3½ cups flour in a bowl.
Next they put 1 teaspoon of baking soda in.
Then they added ¾ teaspoon salt.
Fourth the mixers added 1½ buttermilk.
5th the mixers mixed everything up.
Then we put in more liquid (buttermilk).
6th they put some flour on the dough so it wouldn’t stick to the sheet.
7th some people kneaded the dough until it looked like a loaf of bread.
Next cut 1 inch-deep X across the top of bread.
9th put in the oven for about 35 minutes.
We could choose to have our bread with butter or jam or both. It was
delicious and scrumptious.
We took some bread to Room 11 – our Buddy Class. We read our stories to
them while they ate the bread.

We loved eating the bread and finding out about the story - thanks room 7!
