Today we used a container, water, dice and multi-link cubes to think about volume.
We put some water in a container and marked the water level. Then we put 6 dice into the container and marked the new level.
We then had to think about whether the multi-link cubes would make the water level rise more or less than the dice.
Someone suggested we get some stones and see how much space they took up.
The dice took up more space than the cubes, so have a greater volume. The stones took up the same amount of space as the dice.
We also talked about Archimedes and his bath. Many of us had bath stories to tell. Some people came up with interesting ideas about how to measure how much space they take up using their bath!
